Ande – Ande Lumut
Scene 1 (Klenting’s house)
Long time ago in East Java, there were two kingdoms which were twin, Jenggala Kingdom which was led by Raja Jayanegara and Kediri Kingdom which was led by Jayengrana. According to the story, both of the kingdoms should be put back together through a marriage to avoid the war beetwen them. Because of that, Panji Asmarabangun who was Jayanegara’s son was married with Sekartaji who was Jayengrana’s daughter.
Unexpectedly, Jenggala kingdom was attacked by their anemy kingdom. When the war was happening, Princess Sekertaji escaped and hide into a village far from Jenggala.
Dewi Sekartaji ran away from the war, She arrived in the forest and lost. She (terus berjalan) until she find a house (di ujung desa)
Klenting kuning : (knock the door) “Good afternoon. Hallo, anybody home?”
Nyai Intan : (open the door, looking at Klenting Kuning for a while) “Who are you, girl? What do you want from coming here? I don’t know you even see you, girl?
Klenting Kuning : “Hmmm. I don’t know Mom, I just lost my way and finally I arrived here. But i forgot all the things about myself. May I stay for some days in your home?
Nyai Intan : “I’ll consider it. I should ask for my two lovely daughters opinion about about you first before I give you permission to stay here.” (call Klenting Merah and klenting Hijau)
K. Merah & K. Biru : “yes, Mom!” (coming to the door)
Klenting Merah : “Mom, who is this poor girl? What does she want from us?”
Nyai Intan : “She lost her way and arrived here. She forgot all of her memories, and she want to stay here.”
Klenting Biru : “What?? Stay in here? No...no..no way. That isn’t our business, Mom.”
Klenting Merah : “That’s right, Mom. We don’t even know whether she’s honest or just fool us and have a bad plan for us.”
Klenting Biru : “Ok, Mom. Maybe we agree if she want to stay here. But with a condition.....”
Klenting Kuning :”I’ll do everything with pleasure if I could live here.”
Klenting Biru :”Are you sure?”
Klenting Kuning :”Of course, I’m sure.”
Klenting Biru : (wishper to Klenting Merah and Nyai Intan)
Klenting Merah : (laughing) “That’s a good idea, honey.”
Nyai Intan : “So, if you want to life here, you must be our servant, girl. I’ll take you as my step daughter and I’ll give you name (think for a while) Klenting Kuning. It cause your dress is yellow. Do you mind?”
Klenting Biru : “What? She becomes our sister?”
Klentinng Merah : “It is such a joke for us, makes that poor girl becames the klenting’s too.”
Nyai Intan : “Calm down sweeties! The most important is she would like to bacame our servant and she will help all of our housework.”(talk to Klenting Kuning) “Come in Klenting Kuning, feel like your own home.”
Klenting Kuning : “Thank you, Mom. So glad can meet you and stay here.”
Scene 2(In the forest)
After the war finished, Ande-ande lumut went to the forest looking for Dewi Sekartaji. But, day by day he looking for her, he coundn’t find her. He very tired and dehydration too. So, he leaned on the tree.
Ande-Ande Lumut : “ God, please help me to meet Dewi Sekartaji. I really miss her. Where is she now?”
Mbok Rondo : “ The young man.... Are you okay? You seem exhausted. Try to drink it!”
Ande-Ande Lumut : “Thank you mbok.”
Mbok Rondo : “ Why are you here? And, what’s your name?”
Ande-Ande Lumut : “ I’m looking for my wife. My name is Pan... Ande-ande lumut mbok ”
Mbok Rondo : “Because it’s already night, you will better stay in my home until your health recover.”
Ande-Ande Lumut : “Thank you mbok.”
Scene 3 (Klenting’s house)
By Nyai Intan, Klenting Kuning was considered as daughter too. At Nyai Intan’s house, Klenting Kuning always to do all the housework such as cooking, washing and cleaning house. She often shouted by Nyai Intan and treated badly by her two step sisters.
Klenting Merah : “Klenting kuning.. Come here. Hurry up!!!”
Klenting Kuning : “Yes Klenting Merah. What kind I do for you?”
Klenting Merah : “Massage my shoulders! I’m so tired. Do it now!” ( Klenting kuning massageKlenting Merah shoulder.) “Hey, do you want to kill me? “ (Hiting klenting kuning’s hand) “ You strangle my neck!”
Klenting Kuning : “I’m sorry.....I didn’t mean to do.”
Klenting Merah : “ I don’t want to hear your reason! Go away.”
Klenting Biru : “ Klenting Kuning, help me! Comb my hair!” (coming to Klenting Biru’s room, taking a comb, and starting comb!”
Klenting Biru : “ Ouch! Look at this! My hair is fallen. Enough! Go out!”
Scene 4(In front of Klenting’s house)
Announcer : “Attention please, I have a good announcement. There are a handsome young man looking for a girl who become his wife.
Klenting Merah and Klenting Biru : (Having Shiny face. Running outside ) “What’s that ?”
Klenting’s Mother : “Hey, ugly boy! Tell me about those announuncement that you bring! Who was looking for a wife? I’m sure it isn’t you ?!”
Announcer : “ Of course not me, mam! actually In the village across the river, in Dadapan village, there are a strong and handsome young man. His name is Ande-Ande Lumut. He want to find a girl who become his wife.
Klenting Merah : “Oh, I want to join this contest! Mom, let’s go to the Dadapan village.”
Klenting Biru : “ Yes Mom. He must choose one of us.”
Klenting Kuning : “ Mom... could I come to see Ande-Ande Lumut?”
Klenting Merah : “ What? Pardon me? No.. you can’t see him!”
Klenting Biru : “ Exactly, I’m sure he’ll not going to meet you, moreover
to marrry a stinky and dirty like you.”
Klenting’s Mother : “ You can follow us. With condition, you should clean the pan until glossy like new!
Klenting Kuning : “ What? But, that’s impossible Mom..”
Scene 5 (In the edge of river)
Klenting kuning washed a dirty pan in the edge of river. She’s cry.
Klenting Kuning : “ Oh, God. Why it’s happen to me? I will to join the contest. I think Ande-Ande Lumut is Panji Asmarabangun. But, I should clean this pan until new. (sigh) It’s imposibble to join the contest.
Suddenly heard a strange voice
Oh... the baleful Klenting Kuning... I will help you to decrease your sadness.
Klenting Kuning : “Who are you ? Where are you?
I’m a fairy. Leave your work now and go to see Ande-Ande Lumut!
Klenting Kuning : What? Are you kidding me? If mother knows that i’m not cleaning this pan, my mother will expell me.
Keep calm! I will help you! (CLIIING!!!! The pan is clean like new)
Klenting Kuning : “ Oh, The pan! (supprised) “thanks the fairy! J” (run away from river)
Wait a minute !!! take the stick broom beside you! It will help you!
Klenting Kuning: “ Oh, this! Thank you!”
Scene 6 (In the river)
Meanwhile, the two sisters and her step mother had departed first. They had reached the Solo river. They were confused, because they had to cross the river which was deep and wide, while none of the boot that looked near the river.
Nyai Intan : “Oh, finally!”
Klenting Biru : “Yeah, finally we arrived! But, I think it’s not over. How could we cross the river?”
Klenting Merah : “Yes, Mom. What should we do?”
Klenting Biru : “Hey, look! What is that?”
How shocked Nyai Intan and her two daughters when thay saw a giant crab that was floating on the surface of the river. According to the story, that giant crab named Yuyu Kangkang was Ande-Ande Lumut enfoy in the contest to test the girls who passed the river.
Klenting Merah : “Hey! giant crab! Who are you? Would you help us to cross this river.”
Yuyu Kangkang : (laughing out loud) “Hahahaha.. my name is Yuyu Kangkang, I will help you but you should fulfill my request!”
Klenting Biru : “So, what is that Yuyu Kangkang? Say!”
Nyai Intan : “No matter what you ask to us, we’ll fulfill it as long as we can cross this river.”
Yuyu Kangkang : “All of you should kiss me first before I take you accross the river.”
Klenting Biru : “iuuuh, kissing you? No. I don’t .”
Nyai Intan : “Don’t talk to much Klenting Biru! You have to do it!”
Klenting Merah : “Yeah. Maybe you want to surrender and give the chance to become Prince’s wife to me?“
Klenting Biru : “Oh no! Never! I’ll not give you chance ! Okay, I agree to fulfill the term”
Finally, Klenting Merah and her sister accepted the terms Yuyu Kangkang gave. One by one they kiss the Yuyu Kangkang, after that, Yuyu Kangkang escorted them to the opposite village.
A few moment laters, Klenting Kuning also arrived at the edge of river. When Yuyu Kangkang submited the same request, a kiss, Klenting Kuning refuse. She didn’t want to be try her husband.Although she refuse that term,she kept forcing Yuyu Kangkang to help her cross the river.Klenting Kuning repeatedly ask,but the giant crab is still refuse,except Klenting Kuning will quality the term.
Klenting Kuning : “How can I cross this river,there’s nothing can use here.”
Yuyu Kangkang : (suddenly appear) “Hey sweetie, you should kiss me if you want to cross this river into Dadapan Village.”
Klenting Kuning : “ Hey, who are you ?”
Yuyu Kangkang : “ My name is Yuyu Kangkang. I’m sure that you are one of the girls, who will join the contest to get Prince’s heart,aren’t you ?There are also two girls and a woman join the contest, Klenting Merah and Klentning Biru.”
Klenting Kuning :“Klenting Merah and Klenting Biru are my sister.Yeah,they join this contest too.How do you know it ? Did they get there ?”
Yuyu Kangkang : “ Of course I know,and they have get there.”
Klenting Kuning : “ How can?”
Yuyu Kangkang : “ Like what I say,if you want to this river you should kiss me first.”
Klenting Kuning : “ No,I don’t want it! For the exception if I had crazy enough to fulfill your request.It prefer to us not to join the contest than I must kiss you,Silly Crab !”
Yuyu Kangkang : “ It’s up to you.I just want to help you,but you should kiss me.” (laughing out loud)
Klenting Kuning : “ What? I never want to kiss you!”
Yuyu Kangkang : “ It’s okay! Go alone! Ande-ande lumut will not receive the girl who dirty and stinky like you.
Klenting Kuning : “ Okay! Receive this!
Klenting Kuning got angry. She slapped her whip into he river and immediately solo river water also be regressed . Seeing this, Yuyu Kangkang became frightened and soon took across Klenting Kuning and even drove her up to the Dadapan Village.
Arriving to Mbok Rondo’s house, Klenting Kuning met with her two step sisters and her step mother.
Klenting Biru : “Klenting Kuning, what will you do here?You also join this contest?”
Klenting Kuning : “I just want to try it. Moreover, this contest is open for all girls over the village.”
Klenting Merah : “Don’t you see how is your look ? You don’t deserve to join this contest.”
Scene 7 (In Mbok Rondo’s house)
The contest began. In turn, first, Klenting Merah and her siblings showed her beauty and elegance to Ande-Ande Lumut. However, none of the them were selected by Ande-Ande Lumut. Seeing this, Nyai Intan was begged Ande-Ande Lumut for selected one of her daughter to be the princess.
Nyai Intan :”Have mercy, Prince! I beg please chose one of my daughter There is no flew with my daughters, they are beautiful and deserve to become your princess.”
Ande-Ande Lumut : (just smile) “That’s true! Your two daughters were beautiful, but I still wouldn’t choose one of them. Because, your daughters had been kissed by Yuyu Kangkang. So, I choose Klenting kuning as my Princes. Because, she was my wife who lost.“
Finally, that couple who loved each other met again and lived happily. As a thank you to Mbok Rondo, Panji Asmarabangun asked her to stay in Jenggala Kingdom. While Nyai Intan and her two daughters returned to their village with the feeling of disappointment and embarrassment.
